Articles by Giovanni Dienstmann

Act as who you want to be.

What. Action is the ultimate confirmation of your commitment to your goals and values. It is what moves you forward toward your aspirations. One part of this is building positive habits, and sticking to them—by using a combination of habit-building principles and willpower.

Yet not all action fit into the habit category. You will need to learn how to act, in the moment, according to your values, when life catches you unprepared. And also how to break down big tasks into baby steps.

Why. Action, however small, builds confidence and momentum. Without taking consistent action, your goals are just wishful thinking. You are procrastinating, avoiding, or telling yourself excuses.

How. Choose one key habit for each of your goals or aspirations. Use the steps in this article to build it, and commit to a 30-day streak.

Going Deeper. Read chapters 10, 13, and 25-32 of Mindful Self-Discipline; and 14-16 of Wise Confidence.
